FAST FORWARD 2012
FAST FORWARD 2012, the IMPERIAL Logistics Executive Supply Chain Management Conference, will this year aim to provide Group Executives with the knowledge and strategies to create and maintain a sustainable competitive edge in the marketplace.
In the current economic landscape of stunted growth and high debt, companies look continuously to leverage their supply chains and specifically their supply chain partners to enhance their own competitiveness, drive profits and increase shareholder value.
This year’s conference will be a comprehensive one-day event and will focus on three key elements:
1. Country competitiveness
2. Client competitiveness
3. Company competitiveness
The keynote speaker will be Dr Christian Ketels, a faculty member of the Harvard Business School at Professor Michael E. Porter's Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. Dr Ketels participates in clusters and competitiveness activities all over the world, as a leader of projects, a member of advisory groups, an author of documents and articles on economic policy issues and is a muchsought after speaker on competitiveness and strategy.
Leading the discussion on IMPERIAL Logistics’ contribution to competitiveness will be Nicola Tyler of Business Results Group, a renowned expert in the field of lateral thinking and valuable insight from a client perspective will be offered by Alistair Gore of Kraft Foods. Key learnings from the 8th State of Logistics Survey will also be shared by Nadia Viljoen, Scientific Editor of the State of Logistics Survey at the CSIR.

Resume: Dr Christian Ketles
Dr Christian Ketels is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategy and Competitiveness at the Stockholm School of Economics; a Principal Associate at Professor Michael E. Porter's Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness of the Harvard Business School and an Executive Director of the foundation "Clusters and Competitiveness", a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in Barcelona.
Dr Ketels' research interests focus on the relationship between company strategy and location and on competitiveness at different geographic levels, especially in Europe. He received his PhD (Economics) from the London School of Economics where he developed microeconomic models analyzing the relationship between international competition and firm efficiency.
Dr Ketels holds further degrees from the Kiel Institute for World Economics and Cologne University. He worked as a strategy consultant for Monitor Company from 1997 to 2000 in the UK, Germany, and Scandinavia, and was part of a team that founded Cell Strategy, now part of Adcore AB, a Sweden-based internet strategy consultancy, in 2000. Dr Ketels continues to have a keen interest in the politics of his country Germany where he was a member of the CDU Internet-Commission in 2000-2001.
